For the second time last week I was up at the amazing Chaucer Barn on Saturday and with a much better forecast I was really excited to shoot Emma and Steve’s outdoor wedding.
I arrived to capture Emma and the girls getting ready before heading over to capture Steve and the boys who also finished with a glass of whiskey!
Through the course of the morning I learnt that Steve is also from the lakes and he and Emma met at Lancaster uni 17 years ago and funnily enough around the time I was based in Lancaster at college… it is a small world.
Emma got ready to get into her beautiful dress and looked stunning then gave all the bridesmaids their gifts and headed downstairs to meet her very proud dad at the bottom.
They walked across the field to for their ceremony in the beautiful woodland and exited down the aisle to the guests throwing confetti before leading them back across the field to the barn for drinks and oodles of amazing canapés. They had a bit of a gap before the meal and Steve and Emma were adamant they wanted their guests well fed which I have to say would be top of my wedding day tips… and they really were!
We captured their group shots and then headed off in the sunshine to get their couple shots in the beautiful grounds.
Back at the barn they sat to eat a delicious 3 course meal. Their speeches were between main and pudding and I have to say were fantastic. Emma’s dads was funny and touching, Steve’s was so lovely as he finished telling Emma how much he loved her and the best man Chris’ had all the guests in stitches.
We had hoped we might get a golden hour in the evening but it clouded over. Steve and Emma were still up for getting out and capturing some more photos in the fields and we got some gorgeous shots with very dramatic skies which I will save for now!
They finished with a beautiful first dance and I captured some great dance floor moments as it filled up before I left.
Huge thanks to Steve and Emma for being up for anything! What a wonderful day you had and I hope you have a lovely honeymoon. There are lots more I can’t wait to share but for now here are my favourite five moments…
