I Do… Rhys & Rachel, Kingscote Barn {favourite Five Moments}

I don’t do many ‘UK’ weddings the simple reason is that since I had Robyn I like to be in my own bed every night and wake up to her in the morning. The nature of weddings is that it is a very long day so you need to stay overnight after a wedding if a distance away and to avoid traffic worries on the morning you need to go the day before. That means that to shoot 1 wedding 1 am away for 3 days. I only shoot a limited number of weddings per year and I fill those dates in beautiful Norfolk so quite simply there isn’t really a need for me to travel!

However…. any photographer will tell you to shoot a wedding away from ‘home turf’ at a new venue is exciting and can be so inspiring. I am often contacted by couples who have followed my work for a few years and Rachel and Rhys was one of them. In fact she said as soon as she got engaged that she wanted me to shoot the wedding… I don’t think poor Rhys had much choice!

In their emails they were just the sweetest couple and Rachel really enthused about my work (great tip if you want a specific photographer to shoot your day!) On top of that they were getting married in the stunning Cotswolds and when I googled the beautiful Kingscote Barn I was sold.

So… Rob, Robyn and I decided to make a holiday of it and we booked a beautiful little cottage in the stunning village of Tetbury. Well after a few holiday days the wedding day itself came and I was so excited. Partly to meet Rhys and Rachel and partly to shoot at the gorgeous Cotswold stone barn set in the valley between the stunning Cotswold rolling hills, it is just idyllic.

I arrived at one of the pretty cottages on site where Rachel and her girls was getting ready and we had such a lovely morning. Rachels bridesmaids were so sweet (and all totally gorgeous) and we spent the morning giggling, chatting and capturing some beautiful images. I can’t thank them enough for making me so welcome on the day by the end of it they all felt like friends and I was sad to leave so it stands to reason the first sneak peek is for them, seeing Rachel in her stunning dress.

Over with the boys it was fab to meet Rhys and his guys and we had such a giggle. They are a great fun bunch and Rhys is one of the loveliest guys you could possibly meet. We had a little fun trying to pin their button holes but it all came good and we managed to grab a few snaps outside with a bottle of whiskey too!

Back with the ladies and Rachel got into her stunning dress with the help of her mum. Rachel had planned lots of time so we managed to shoot a ‘dad reveal’ ‘bridesmaid reveal’ as well as getting lots of shots of her ready to go AND getting out in the garden for some shots with champagne!

At the barn the guests were arriving to gorgeous decor by The Little Wedding Helper and taking their seats outside ready for the ceremony. Rachel looked incredible as she walked up the aisle and I know its a moment Rhys would like etched on his memory forever, hopefully my sneak peek below will help.

After the ceremony the guests had drinks and some incredible canapés in the garden with lawn games while we captured their group shots and then headed up the hill at the other side of the barn for some epic couple shots.

Their meal was wood fired pizza (bloody brilliant) with salad and chip buckets and their hilarious speeches followed. Its fair to say the bestman were hilarious and I know an awful lot about Rhys now!

After dinner we nipped out for a few more shots in the gardens before their very romantic first dance. The dance floor filled and I got some fab dance floor shots during the bands first set before they had a break for evening food and I headed back to the cottage.

This was such an epic wedding to be a part of, the people, the venue, the other suppliers, despite not shooting many round the UK this is one I was so glad I booked in the diary.

Huge thanks to Rhys and Rachel for inviting me to capture it for them. The fab staff at Kingscote and all their lovely friends and family for making me feel so welcome.

Picking 5 photos that summed up this day was tough, there are many, many, many more but these are just little memories I adored so here they are…
