I don’t know where to start with this wedding, it was a day I had been looking forward to for a long time and it still managed to exceed all my expectations!
Lucy is actually a very talented wedding photographer and when she got in touch more than 18 months ago I was really looking forward to meeting her and Steve. When we met within minutes it was like chatting to old friends and I knew we would get on like a house on fire!
At the time they booked me they actually hadn’t decided on a venue but I think two venue changes later and a date change and Lucy got in touch to say she was desperate to book a venue she had recently shot at, the amazing Tunnels Beaches in Devon!
This venue is the stuff of wedding photography dreams, the most incredible modern building set in to the cliffs accessed only by the most amazing Tunnel., with a walkway down to a private beach surrounded by cliffs it is photography heaven!
When Lucy booked the venue I couldn’t have been more excited and Rob and I decided to make our own little holiday out of the trip and headed down a few days before.
I won’t lie, shooting a wedding for another photographer is pretty terrifying. Every photographer sees things differently and I am so grateful that Lucy simply wanted me to capture their day in my style.
Being a wedding photographer herself she simply wanted the most relaxed and fun day possible but she still had a few tricks up her sleeve! Steve’s family actually lives in Australia so a couple of months ago they headed for the holiday of a lifetime in Oz and Fiji! Whilst there they actually got legally married surrounded by Steve’s family but kept it a secret from their guests until their UK wedding day! Lucy’s sister walked up the aisle and took the usual registrars place and then announced that she would be taking the ceremony and that Steve and Lucy were actually already married, to a few whoops, cheers and surprised faces!
The day just got better and better from there, big blue skies, glorious sunshine, not a jot of wind, the yummiest BBQ food I have ever had, an outdoor first dance, unicorn poop confetti (don’t ask!) and confetti canons, THREE sets of couple shots on the beach (thanks Steve!), the most stunning golden hour, speeches on the rooftops, first dance as the sun went down on the terrace and to top it off Steve and Lucy’s friends and family couldn’t have been more welcoming, I just felt like one of the party and had to keep reminding myself I was there to take pictures!
I say it every time but 5 sneak peeks is never enough… I could have shown you hundreds from this amazing wedding.
Here though are just a few of my favourites. Huge thanks to Steve and Lucy for just being awesome (and taking me to Devon) I really feel I have come away with 2 new friends!
I hope you love the sneak peeks (pressure!) and I can’t wait to show you the rest!
