This time last year I was about to shoot my final wedding of the year… this year on Saturday I had 5 left (4 now!) It is certainly a busy end to the year but that also means lots of gorgeous autumnal weddings, my favourite!
Saturday was no exception. The skies were grey and it was drizzling as I headed over to meet the boys at the Berney Arms in Barton Bendish. Its the most gorgeous pub with beautiful rooms, somewhere I would highly recommend if you are passing that way! I captured Paul and his best man getting ready before heading to Helen’s parents gorgeous home in Shouldham. She was getting ready with her mum and 3 sisters and they were having a wonderful relaxed morning. In fact it wasn’t until Helen started getting into the dress that she started to get a little nervous. It has to be said that having 3 sisters has to help calm your nerves and make you feel rather special as they had a great time helping her into her dress, telling her how amazing she looked and we even had some tears!
Helen had planned her timings wonderfully meaning we had time to nip into their beautiful garden for some shots of the family together before I headed to the church.
At the church the guests were arriving and everyone was looking rather excited. The most gorgeous autumnal flowers had been created by Hamilton Flowers and the small cosy church was looking stunning. The guests took their seats and a slightly nervous Paul headed in as Helen and the bridesmaids arrived and walked up the path arm in arm with her dad.
They had a gorgeous ceremony and then didn’t stop smiling as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. Outside we captured their group photos before they walked through clouds of confetti, jumped in a vintage BMW and headed off to their reception. They had plenty of time to relax with their guests who, as the weather held, were enjoying lawn games, canapés, fire pit and toasting marshmallows in Helen’s parents incredible garden.
We nipped off with the car for a few couple shots and then grabbed a few more as the guests took their seats for dinner. After a wonderful meal it was time for the speeches and I think I can safely say they were possibly my favourite of the year so far. Helen’s dad, Paul and his best man did a brilliant job of making everyone laugh. Paul is a bit of a joker but all jokes were put aside when he talked about Helen his speech was amazing!
After dinner they cut the cake and while the band did their sound check we nipped out for a couple of night shots just before their first dance. They had an amazing full dance floor so I stayed to capture some awesome dance floor images before saying my goodbyes and heading off for the evening.
Huge thanks to Helen and Paul and especially Helen’s family for welcoming me into their home (and for the coffee and cake Jane!) I had the best day with you all and can’t wait to share the rest!
Have a wonderful time in Scotland Helen and Paul but for now here are my favourite five moments…
