Chris and Claire got married on the most beautiful sunny day on Saturday at the very same church in which her grandma got married followed by their reception at the awesome Godwick Great Barn.
Toward the end of last year I pencilled out a few weekends in the diary to have a little time off (a rarity in the summer!) Claire got in touch enquiring about one of those very weekends but I just couldn’t resist a wedding at Godwick and when I met them both I was thrilled they chose me to capture their day.
So, it was my first time shooting at Godwick and having heard lots of lovely things I couldn’t wait. I arrived at the beautiful B&B in the morning, unusually Chris and Clare stayed together the night before and saw each other the morning of the wedding which they both felt helped calm the nerves! I was also able to capture some gorgeous images of Chris getting ready before he headed off to a holiday home where his parents were staying to finish getting ready. I then captured the ladies getting glammed up, the rooms at Godwick B&B I have to say are totally stunning and the perfect place to get beautiful light elegant getting ready images, Heather and I were in our element!
As Claire got in to her dress helped by mum she looked beautiful. The dress has the most incredible beaded back and she looked so elegant with her full length veil and stunning flowers by Swaffham and Fakenham Florist.
Claire arrived at their church, the very same one her Grandma married in , in a black cab, a nod to London where her and Chris now live and it made a very cool wedding car. They had a beautiful service, Shipdam church was stunning and with the sunshine streaming through the gorgeous windows was a photographers dream for ceremony shots. My first shot is as Claire walked up the aisle and her and her Dad looked at each other one last time, photography magic.
After a beautiful ceremony and their group photos we got some gorgeous confetti shots up the church path and then they headed back to the barn in their black cab! Cleverly they had arranged ‘lunch’ style canapes, so a bit bigger than the usual canapes, which gave us lots of time to get some fab candid shots of the guests and take Claire and Chris up to the ruin for their couple shots. I waited quite a while to get the jenga ‘falling over’ so I had to add this great shot of one of their friends!
The barn looked stunning decorated with fairy lights amazing flowers by Swaffham Florist and some extra pretty details by The Little Lending Company as well as a whole lot of amazing planning, details and work by Chris and Claire! After an amazing meal of pies and chocolate brownie (my favourite wedding meal of the year so far, well done Godwick!) they had a rather epic sunset and so we nipped out for 15 mins of the incredible golden light.
After Chris and Claire’s first dance the dance floor filled up and I adore my final sneak peek of Claire and her Grandma on the dance floor!
As it always is it was such a struggle to pick which to choose but as I always do I went with my gut and those moments that just felt totally magical on the day, so here are my favourite five moments…
Chris and Claire have an amazing honeymoon and I look forward to sharing the rest in a few weeks time! Also huge thanks to Heather, this was my final wedding of the year with Heather and she will be doing weddings on her own from next year so it was a bittersweet day for us!
