This was one of my favourite weddings from 2010 and was in fact featured on the beautiful Whimsical Wonderland Weddings Blog! {Part 1} {Part 2}
Annika and Jim’s wedding had an English 1960’s themed wedding which took place at the gorgeous boutique Hotel St Giles House in the centre of Norwich.
Annika’s dress was custom made for her. Her shoes were customized by her mum who added the bow and she had a broach, earring’s (given to her by her mum) and a ring to finish off the look. Her stunning headband/tiara belonged to her Grandma who wore it on her wedding day, passed down to Annika’s mum who also wore it on her wedding day and then to Annika who proudly wore it to compliment her gorgeous 60’s beehive hair style. Her fantastic hairdresser was J Hairdressing in Norwich .
Annika and Jim both got ready at the hotel in different rooms. Annika in the fantastic room 16 bridal suite, before the ceremony was held in the stunning wood paneled room complete with huge chandelier and two beautiful fire places. The emotional ceremony included a reading of the Owl and the Pussycat and Jim, who is a musician, singing and playing the guitar.
Annika had the fantastic idea of having an afternoon tea party and so for months before hand collected old tea pots and vintage cups and saucers in all different designs. Straight after the ceremony the guests sat down to an fantastic spread of sandwiches, tea, scones and a large variety of cream cakes!
The florist planted mini rose plants and arranged beautiful roses of red, pink and white in the vintage teapots Annika had collected and these were used as the centre piece of each table. The guests then all had a mix and match of beautiful vintage tea cups and saucers to drink their tea and eat their cakes from.
The attention to detail at the wedding was really special, the place cards were miniature tea pots and cups with name tags attached, a gold framed table plan her mum had written out in silver and 2 large framed prints of Annika’s Mum and Grandma’s wedding both wearing that stunning headband in each shot hung on the walls of the bar.
In the evening the room was transformed and re lit (amazingly in blue lighting by Annika’s brother) and decks were set up with Annika and Jims friends taking it in turns to play a ‘set’ of the couples fantastic record collection. The evening finished off with English fish and chips and the cutting of their beautiful cake.
Annika asked for no pre-ceremony shots to be published as obviously these are quite personal and although I have some gorgeous images of her getting ready she was happy for me to show you all her beautiful detail shots.
As you can see this was a pretty special wedding filled with everything a wedding should be, gorgeous details, history, sentiment, romance, love, friends, family, laughter and lots of dancing!
