Happy New Year!
It’s that time of year again to share my favorite moments of 2016. Â I have been through 30 weddings and over 20,000 images to pull together my favorites and actually just around 1% of the photos delivered to my couples but wow, what a year it was!
I put this post together every year, at the beginning it seems like such a daunting task but I love going through each wedding, reliving each day and I always feel rather emotional looking back.
It is a real cliché but I genuinely feel so honored and proud to have captured the memories my 2016 couples and I imagine my brides, grooms and their families pouring through the images for years to come. This year I have also been lucky enough to have photographed many of my past brides and groom and their little additions to the family and it makes me so happy to know that one day they will be sharing their albums with their children and maybe grandchildren.
So 2016, what a year… 30 incredible weddings, 30 of the most awesome bride and grooms!
The year started on a slightly wet freezing cold March day with Jeremy and Nicola’s beautiful Kersey Mill wedding with their little boy… The year ended with the very wet but stunning wedding of Karen and Richard with their two little girls at Holkham Hall.
Huge thank you to my amazing assistants this year, Heather, Nicola and Emma who have worked like troupers to support me on many of my weddings and we have had lots of fun along the way!
Weddings this year have taken me to Surrey, Devon, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Warwickshire and of course beautiful Norfolk; I have shot at some of the most incredible venues in the UK, cathedrals, rustic barns, beautiful manor houses and boutique hotels; ceremonies in meadows, oodles of churches, on the side of cliffs; we have had rain (quite a lot this year) sunsets of my dreams, wind to whip veils away and even hale storms to drown out speeches; I have eaten rather a lot of wedding cake and been treated to three course meals galore, sweetie bars, cookie cakes, pancake vans, fish and chip vans, ice cream vans, pizza, and lots and lots of canapés; I have shot couples with dogs, hay bales, tractors and trailers, in fields of corn, in wood sheds, on beaches, up cliffs and even in rowing boats: every wedding has been filled with the most important friends, family and fun; sumo wrestling suits, bouncy castles, tractor rides, kites, piñatas, dancing, singing, giant balloons, archery, lawn games, photo booths, table games and thousands of handfuls of confetti; I have seen so much laughter, so many tears, fears, worries, wobbles, nerves, gratitude, pride and fun; These weddings have been filled with the most incredible things for me to shoot but more than anything they have been filled, to the top, running over the sides and bursting out of the edges with a whole lot of love… and that is the best thing to shoot of all.
So hear are my favorite moments of 2016… taken with the love of capturing all these memories, from the big ones to the tiny ones that now will go unforgotten. Thank you to all my amazing bride and grooms here is your 2016…
