10th December… Styled Shoot ~ Great Expectations

I have been so excited to share this shoot. As some of you may know I like to do 1-2 styled shoots each year. A styled shoot is a collaboration between several different suppliers who all bring their creative heads together and literally style a shoot. Suppliers get images to use in their own marketing and the photographer gets to be super creative without the pressure of it being a clients shoot, try new things and have fun in the process.

I have had a Great Expectations shoot in my head for the last couple of years and couldn’t wait to organize one. The funny thing was on the day of the shoot someone mentioned that a new adaptation of the Great Expectations story was also about to hit the cinema and is in fact out now! The thing with a styled shoot though is that they take an awful lot of arranging, finding models, sourcing suppliers, dresses, venues and a suitable day (with fine weather) that all the suppliers can also make. So this shoot stayed in my head and grew wings over the last couple of years! I found the perfect venue, the stunning Narborough Hall which with its frontage of climbing Ivy, homely natural feel, grand rooms and incredible grounds was just ideal. I also found the perfect makeup artist someone I have worked with many times and I knew would be creative and professional enough to pull off the perfect looks, Emily from Love Moi Makeup. With her help we found the rest of the suppliers and the gorgeous models and so on a very misty October day we all met early and headed up to Narborough Hall.

We had arranged 3 models, but the blond girl we had planned to be ‘Miss Havisham’ couldn’t make it and so at the last minute the very beautiful Sophie from Sophie and Smith (dress designers) stepped in and I have to say played a fantastic Miss Havisham. With three models we decided to have a Miss Havisham (Sophie), an Estella (Kathryn) who I have to say was perfect and then Sarah played a narrator, we dressed her in several different periods and shot her almost exclusively with the Great Expectations Book. With the other characters around her they appeared to have ‘come to life’ through the pages of the book and she did a fantastic job of being engrossed in the story.

So our Miss Havisham shoot was born and we had a fabulous time shooting all around the grounds and even being given exclusive use of the amazing attics which made the spookiest backdrops. We had the best suppliers in Norfolk on the shoot and it simply would not have come together so well with out them so with huge thanks to the following:
