Today I would like to introduce you to the Olive Tree Restaurant in North Walsham, North Norfolk.

I met the manager Poppy Bell at the EDP wedding show and whilst admiring her stand we got talking. As this restaurant has begun to promote weddings fairly recently Poppy was in the process of putting together a recommended supplier list. I loved the look of their elegant stand and Poppy liked my work on visiting mine, so we decided to meet at the restaurant to have a look round and to show Poppy my work and collection in more detail.

Armed with my wedding albums I took the scenic route up to North Walsham to have a look at this exciting new venue. The outside does not give much aways but surrounded by gorgeous potted Olive Trees and a frosted glass door sign I was intrigued to see the inside. I was not disappointed. The restaurant is amazing, a beautiful light, lofty space with white washed beams and a gorgeous slate bar is the centre piece of the room. Huge patio doors adorn one wall letting in loads of light and on the sunny morning we could have been sitting drinking coffee in a exclusive hotel in the South of France. The patio was the cherry on the cake; elegant tables spaced around the contemporary square ponds, more beautiful potted Olive trees and all lit by big black fire boulders and fire heat lamps. I Could have sat there all and I can imagine that on a summers evening decorated with candles this would be the most magical wedding venue.

At this point, sadly, I can’t comment on the food, although the images on the web look amazing and I believe the head chef to be a very talented guy. Watch this space though as The Olive Tree has jumped to the top of my list of new places to try!

Although quite a large venue I felt with the way the space was separated in to restaurant, outside and lounge area it would suit both a big wedding but also a small intimate wedding. This is not the place for a bride who is looking for a grand country mansion or barn, nor someone looking for a swanky city hotel venue. This is the ‘European’ feel venue without the price tag, for the bride who is looking for an understated, elegant, demure wedding The Olive tree is the venue for you.
