I Will… Styled Engagment Shoot Inspiration {Cley & Wells Beach}

I often get asked what I mean by a ‘styled shoot’ so thought I would share this ‘styled Engagement Shoot’ with you from a recent photographer meet up. Yes, this is what us photographers do for fun… get together with a couple of models and our camera’s and have what us Twitter folk call a Tweetup!

This was a really special one with huge thanks to October for arranging and the very gorgeous Matt and Sarah our models for the day who have since got married!

When I say a styled shoot this hits the nail on the head. It is not about cheesy props and matching outfits but about putting some thought and effort in to clothing and a few choice props as well as a carefully chosen location.

Look 1… Sarah and Matt are Rock and Roll lovers so decided for on something a little 50’s inspired and quite Rock n Roll! This is a look that is so easy to replicate with the gorgeous fashions out there at the moment think full skirts, high heels and some leather jackets as props. Our location was chosen for it’s ‘village in the past’ feel and the gorgeous grocery shop at Cley on the Norfolk coast likely hasn’t changed since 1959! For a splash of colour we used the wicker basket full of lemons and a pineapple and a leopard print umbrella to finish the look (and because it was raining!)

Look 2… We headed down to the beach and Sarah and Matt changed in to their second outfit. Relaxed, casual with a touch of a 50’s twist and great nautical colours that couldn’t have been better for the bright beach huts or even looking the other direction the bleak beach scene. Throw in the cute vintage Union Jack flag to use as a picnic blanket and some union Jack bunting for a splash of colour on the huts and you have a nautical, 50’s, Rule Britannia theme all rolled in to one!

So if you fancy styling up your Engagement Shoot a little then get your thinking cap on! A picnic in the daisies with a boho feel; patchwork quilt, patterned maxi dress, bare feet, strawberries and a home made Victoria sponge. Or how about a farm yard feel; cute dungarees, wellies, hay bales, corn fields, wheel barrows and pitchforks? The possibilities are endless and so much fun!

If you would like to style up your shoot and have some ideas then let me know, I will help as much as I can with location ideas and any props I have in the cupboard!

For now enjoy having a look at Sarah and Matt’s fabulous ideas with a huge congratulations to them on their recent wedding I think these guys will be one very happily married couple.

Could Matt and Sarah be any cooler?! x
