I am not sure there is anywhere more beautiful on a sunny Spring day than the amazing Norfolk Coast and Holkham Hall has it all! The skies were blue as I headed to meet Lara who was getting ready at the beautiful Scaldbeck House (worth checking out if you are looking for somewhere for you and your family to stay if you have a wedding in this area!) It is the perfect location for getting ready. Rooms flooded with light, oodles of bedrooms to choose from (though I love the one with the four poster) and plenty of space for you and your guests to spread out through the house. The girls were all getting ready in the beautiful lounge with hair and makeup by the lovely Amanda Steed and were all looking beautiful. Lara and her bridesmaids just had the best morning and they were the loveliest, fun group of girls who chattered and giggled the way through the getting ready.
When it was time for Lara to get into her dress she choose the four-poster room and with its three beautiful large windows it was perfect. Lara is just the most beautiful girl both inside and out but when she put her dress on even we all had a bit of a WOW moment, she looked insane! I think her bridesmaids agreed as they entered the room and looked pretty blown away! She had a lovely moment with dad and gave some gifts to the bridesmaids before we shot off for the beautiful Holkham Hall.
The sun was shining and with the big blue skies Holkham looked breath taking. I met the guys for some buttonhole pinning and as the guests arrived James looked a little nervous! They chose to get married in the Marble Hall and with the stairs dressed by Constance Rose (as well as all the amazing flowers) it looked beautiful.
Lara arrived looking relaxed and excited and was helped out the car by her lovely dad. As she got to the top of the aisle James looked suitably impressed and through the ceremony they chose to read their own vows, which were just gorgeous. After the ceremony we had their confetti shots in the hall and a few group shots outside before the guests headed in for drinks and canapés in the Statue Gallery.
Lara, James and I headed out for their couple shots just as the busses arrived to take their guests to their wedding breakfast at the Temple. They seriously rocked their couple shots and for the first set we chose to use the Hall itself and a few down by the lake.
Once up at the temple we did some fun bridesmaids and groomsmen shots before the guests took their seats. The marquee looked epic. James and Lara live in Singapore and added this element into all their incredible details. Â Hanging lanterns adorned the ceiling and the tables were dressed with pots of Orchids and foliage. With such a hot day all the marquee sides were up and the clear roof made it really feel like the party was very much in the beautiful woodland.
After a delicious wedding breakfast they did their speeches and we headed out for a few golden hour shots before the music began!
This was the most magical day from start to finish and it was a real pleasure to spend it with James and Lara as well as their lovely friends and family. Huge thanks to Cara for assisting and fabulous as ever to work with the Thompson Granger boys.
Here are a few of my favourites from the day…
