Last Saturday was my one of my final three weddings of 2018 and I really feel like I am finishing with a bang!
I had never met Chris or Ellie before the big day but from all their emails they sounded just my kind of couple. They were warm, friendly, excited and nice and relaxed which always makes the best photos! I arrived with Ellie on the morning of the wedding and got a big hug. There is no doubt she is a beautiful girl on the outside (seriously stunning!) but she is also so sweet and warm and the loveliest person on the inside too. Ellie her mum and her girls were all getting ready in Chris’ parents holiday home in Thornham which is pretty darn beautiful and were having a great morning, drinking tea, a wonderful breakfast spread, listening to music and getting excited about the day (my kind of morning!) They had the fabulous Sarah Patterson on makeup and Brooke from Boho Beauty Box on hair and the girls all looked incredible.
I then headed over to the boys who were in a cottage just round the corner. Having met Ellie I knew Chris would be lovely and he really was such a sweet guy. He had a best man, lots of ushers and both the dads there (as well as mum, grandma and grandad too!) It was a little chaotic but I got some gorgeous shots of the guys getting into their suits and the boys were so much fun!
Back with the girls and it was time for Ellie to get into her dress… I have had some seriously incredible wedding dresses this year but Ellie’s, wow, it blew me away. As she got dressed with the help of her sister and mum I was honestly speechless, she looked incredible and the dress looked like it was made for her. She walked down the stairs to show her dad and safe to say he and all the bridesmaids were blown away… there were a few tears shed!
Running a little behind we rushed over to the incredible Thornham Church, I have only ever shot in this church once before and I have to say it is one of my all time favourites to shoot in. Its really big for such a small village and is one of the lightest churches in Norfolk. Not only that there is a lovely big area for wedding cars to pull up, plenty of space for group shots outside the front door and the most amazing hedges that line the church path.
I headed outside just in time to capture Ellie’s vintage car (driven by her dad) pulling up and him helping her out. As she walked up the aisle Chris had a sneaky look round and shed a few tears as his gorgeous bride reached the top (giggling about how emotional he was!).
They had a beautiful ceremony, the lady vicar at this church is one of the loveliest vicars I have come across, so fun and relaxed and made their ceremony so personal. They had gorgeous readings signed the register and the ceremony finished with Chris’ sister and one of their friends singing an awesome duet of one of their favourite songs.
We captured their group photos and then they walked through clouds of confetti, jumped in the car and were waved off by their guests as they drove off to The Temple at Holkham. While their guests were behind them and arriving at Holkham we snuck away for some couple shots with the incredible view before heading up to the Temple for drinks, canapés and a few more group photos.
They had a fabulous meal followed by some brilliant speeches. Ellie’s mum and dad decided to do one together which got lots of laughs and tears. Chris and Ellie both said a few words and I don’t think I have ever heard a groom speak more beautifully about his bride than Chris, big brownie points Chris it was amazing! They finished with Chris’ best man’s which was brilliant and super funny!
The meal and speeches had overrun a little so it was time for their cake cut and first dance followed by a rather full dance floor which we managed to capture some shots of before leaving for the evening.
I can’t wait to share some more images from this incredible day but for now here are my favourite five moments…
