How wonderful it was to be back at Godwick Great Barn on Saturday. I haven’t shot there for ages and it is one of my favourite Norfolk venues so to shoot Charlie and Sam’s day there was a real pleasure!
Despite the gorgeous weather last week it was forecast rain for Saturday. I do say to all my couples the weather is one thing we can’t control so its just a case of having a back up plan and going with it if we need to. I do also always encourage couples outside if possible with a brolly as the results are always gorgeous!
Well Sam was seriously prepared with wellies and brollies. All day she just kept saying ‘lets do it you only get married once’ so with a couple like that you can’t really fail to make the most of the weather.
We arrived in the morning and Sam was getting ready in the beautiful hall. In fact they were both getting ready there and they even bumped into each other in the morning but they are so laid back they were happy just going with the flow. The girls looked stunning with hair by Cara from the awesome Gemma Holiday Hair and makeup by the always wonderful Melissa Abel. Sam asked to have an ‘unveil’ to her mum and bridesmaids who walked into the room and looked pretty blown away by how stunning she looked.
The hall was decorated with flowers by the amazing Swaffham and Fakenham Florist and oodles of props and signs from the lovely Penny of The Little Lending Company. The guests were starting to take their seats, Charlie looking relaxed and laid back as ever and Sam arrived and rushed in under a brolly.
One thing I adore about Godwick is the amazing lighting and the beautiful festoon lights strung across the ceiling were just gorgeous in the background of their beautiful ceremony.
Sam was really keen to make the most of the surroundings so we managed to get all the bridesmaids and groomsmen out for some photos and then even all the guests for some confetti shots outside! We also had the famous tractor ride up to the ruins and had some time to get some beautiful images of them up there looking back at the barn.
Tris from Julie Abbs catering provided the meal and Tom, Cara and I were treated to three amazing courses, you really can’t go wrong with Tris’ team their food is always incredible. After which they had some really lovely speeches before their evening guests arrived and we even managed to nip out again for some gorgeous twilight images just before their first dance.
Before we left the amazing Christophes Crepes arrived and Sam insisted we have one before heading home!
Sam and Charlie were just the sweetest most laid back couple to shoot so huge thanks to them and all their guests for braving the weather! Also what a dream team of amazing suppliers they had including the awesome Tom from Browns Films whose film I can’t wait to see, all suppliers are linked so be sure to pop to their websites. Also big thanks to Cara for assisting on the day.
Here are my favourite five but boy do I have a whole lot more I can’t wait to share…
