ast Friday I was lucky enough to have the most incredible wedding… In Scotland! I have never shot a wedding in Scotland before and was so excited to be shooting in the amazing city of Edinburgh.

I booked this wedding around 2 years ago, in fact when I booked it Kirsty had been following me on social media for a few years, in fact even before she MET Greg she had decided she wanted me to be her wedding photographer so it was just the biggest honour to be asked to head to Bonnie Scotland to capture their day.

I don’t usually shoot weddings so far from home but when Kirsty and Greg booked my best friend lived in Glasgow! I thought it would be a great chance to stay with her for a few days. Fast forward 2 years and we now have Robyn and my best friend has actually moved to Australia!

So Rob and I decided to make a little holiday of it and went up to Edinburgh for a week and had the most fabulous time and lovely weather.

Greg and Kirsty’s wedding was on our final day so I headed to her parents lovely home to capture their getting ready shots. They had the most relaxed fun morning having their hair and makeup done, eating crispy creams (yes I got one too) and opening lovely gifts. When Kirsty got into her beautiful lace dress I think we were all blown away how incredible she looked not least her dad whose reaction I just loved (below!)

This is Scotland so as predicted the weather wasn’t great. I arrived at church with Greg greeting guests all arriving under brollies however it cleared up just long enough to capture Kirsty arriving and actually their confetti shots, group shots and even some couple shots outside before we headed to their stunning reception venue of the gorgeous Principle Hotel. I rarely shoot at city centre hotels, Norfolk has much more barns and country houses but The Principle is just stunning and their wedding breakfast room, softly lit with a magnificent chandelier and their gorgeous tables looked amazing.

They entered behind a bag piper to huge applause and had their brilliant speeches before their meal so the boys could all relax a bit. I don’t know what’s in the air this year but all my wedding speechmakers have been on fire and again these were seriously brilliant speeches.

After a delicious 3-course meal (which myself and the videographers got too!) we didn’t quite get golden hour but headed out on the beautiful streets round the hotel for a few more couple shots before their first dance. Straight after their first dance Kirsty’s mum had let me into a secret that lots of their guests were getting up to do a medley to some of the best Disney songs and I have to say this is one of the best things I have ever seen at a wedding! It was just brilliant, more and more guests got up through the performance and everyone was laughing and cheering!

I didn’t want to go but I left the guests after a few ceilidh dance songs having a fabulous time on the dance floor!

I can’t thank Greg and Kirsty enough for inviting me all the way to Scotland to capture their amazing wedding, what a fabulous experience it was. Also their seriously lovely friends and family who made me feel so welcome.

Here are my favourite five moments… I can’t wait to share the rest!
